“Should I or shouldn’t I?” For JoAnne Donner of Donner Mediation and Coaching, this is the first question in the first stage of her Three Stages of Divorce. In this episode, JoAnne discusses her unique perspective that comes from being a credentialed divorce navigator and coach, as well as a certified mediator.

Mediation allows both parties to “have their say” about the issues and be in control of creating their own options and terms for resolution. Mediating parties meet in a private, comfortable, non-litigious setting with the mediator, a neutral third party trained to facilitate communication and guide parties toward settlement. In this role, JoAnne guides one or both parties entering into the “Divorce Spectrum.”

In this episode, you will learn:

    • The three distinct stages of divorce
    • The critical step of preparing to take charge
    • How to build a team and seek a divorce coach
    • What a “Brain’s Book” is and why it is so important to your successful navigation of divorce
    • The differences between private vs. court-ordered mediation
    • That you don’t have to do it alone!

We also discuss the additional perspectives that need consideration when children are involved. Since you will always be connected through your children, resolutions reached amicably and with civility help promote a calm and enjoyable future for blended families. Think graduations, weddings, birthdays, funerals, and the rest. What do you want those to be like and how do you want to remember them?

At the end of the day, divorce is a legal process, and you need to understand the specifics of your particular situation thoroughly. Whether you move to a private mediation or a court-ordered one, it is important to understand the rules and advantages of this opportunity.

Tune in and learn from the expert.
