Before You Hire a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Financial Advisor or Other Expert
Determining the best person to help you reach your financial goals doesn’t have to be complicated. When it comes to questions to ask a financial advisor, we’ve answered those we hear most frequently.
Why do I need a financial planner?
Whether you hire a certified financial planner (CFP), wealth management advisor or financial coach, you’re looking for this person to be your personal CFO. A trusted advisor to help you identify your goals, assess how to reach them, and then create and monitor a customized plan that will get you there. Read more.
What makes IRC Wealth different from other financial advisors?
The IRC Wealth team is your partner in reaching financial freedom. We take a holistic look at your finances and then, with your input, create a wealth creation plan that works for you. We are here to coach you through all your financial decisions, weighing the risks, and how they affect your budget and ability to save and invest. From expanding your business to buying a house or changing jobs, these all impact your ability to succeed in creating wealth.
Why should I trust IRC Wealth to look out for my best interests?
IRC Wealth is only interested in what’s best for you. We receive no commissions nor do we sell any products with upfront fees. Many of our clients have been with us for more than 25 years because of this mutual respect, transparency and the fact that we invest our own money in the same places we recommend to our clients.
What are the steps IRC Wealth uses to develop my wealth creation plan?
We create your individualized plan over three one-hour meetings during which we review your debt, assets, cash, risk and goals. Only after we’ve agreed on what your plan will be, are any investments made on your behalf. Read more about the documents we ask that you bring.
How am I involved in the process?
This is your wealth creation plan. You are involved every step of the way so that you understand it, are comfortable with it and can follow it to achieve your goals. Many certified financial planners only invest the money and send a report. We are here to serve as your trusted advisor, coaching you along the path to financial freedom.
How often will we review my plan?
Every six months, we review what you and your plan have accomplished. We then identify the action steps you and IRC Wealth need to focus on for the next six months to stay on track.
What if something changes in my life?
Life happens. Things change all the time. Partnering with IRC Wealth isn’t about two meetings per year. It’s about making sure your plan is working. Changes in life, whether positive or negative, when handled correctly can keep you on plan and pursuing your wealth goals.By letting us know, we can work together to update your plan, whether it’s to reflect a marriage, divorce, new car, being laid off or your son losing his scholarship.
What if I have a question between the 6-month review meetings?
The IRC Wealth team is always available. We pride ourselves on outstanding client communication and we encourage you to contact us for any reason.
How much in assets do I need to become a client?
We’ve found that our full-service, wealth management strategies work best with clients who have at least $250,000 in assets. However, this decision is made on an individual basis. Please contact us to discuss your particular situation.
What if I’m not ready to sign on as a client?
We offer assessments, wealth creation plans, and other consulting services for those who don’t need or aren’t ready for a full-service wealth management team. Read more about these options here.
How does IRC Wealth charge for their services?
This is one of the most important questions to ask a financial advisor. IRC Wealth is an independent, fee-only wealth management firm, and we do not receive commissions or other financial compensation for any products or services that we recommend. Consequently, we can truly approach your goals objectively, creating the plan that best fits your needs. Learn more about our fees.
What if I don’t live in Atlanta?
IRC Wealth Services has clients all over the country. Technology, conference calls and the occasional in-person meeting (depending on location) allow us to provide the same high-level of service you would receive if you lived in Atlanta. Much like your individualized financial plan, we create a meeting profile that will work for you.
How do I take the first step?
If you’re ready to take the first step on your path to financial freedom and think we might be the financial advisor for you, please contact us for an introductory conversation, or call 404-968-9348. And, if you have any other questions to ask a financial advisor, please let us know those as well.
